A "Angela Smith" from "the process service division" said I needed to schedule my service of legal documents of a specific case number or face legal consequences, and that failure to do so timely could be held against me in a court of law, etc. Never said what company she was from and always wanted to verify aspects of my personal identity (date of birth, full name, etc.) Called multiple times on my personal cell and extension at work. So, seemed like something serious. But there are several red flags - 1) I never received any notice in writing from any legal entity, which is likely how they would try to contact you first. 2) "Angela" never said who she actually worked for. 3) I had to respond "immediately" or face consequences. That's not how things work in the legal and process service world. 4) asking for my social security number is a big red flag for likely attempted identity theft. Not something anybody needs to disclose over the phone.
